====== Making Linux more comfortable ======
Most of us are probably used to working on a Windows or a Mac machine. These operating systems are packed with nice and shiny features to make working with them easier. Most Linux distribution on the other hand come rather 'clean' and simple. But you can add extensions to make working with them a little easier.

===== Dark mode =====
Maybe you're not there yet, but once you've been staring at a computer all day for several days in a row you might want to change to the "Dark mode" to give your eyes some relieve.
  - Click on the three symbols in the upper right corner of your screen
  - Click on the button 'Dark Mode'

  * For the web browser there are extensions like [[https://darkreader.org/|Dark Reader]] that convert web pages into dark mode

===== Tweaks =====
Tweaks is a software that provides a number of adjustments for the overall look and feel of Linux. Below you will see how to activate the minimize and maximize options for windows, but take your time and check out the other options as well.

  - Move your cursor to the upper left corner of your screen -or- press the Windows key to open the Applications menu
  - Type in 'Tweaks' and open the application by pressing Enter
  - Go to 'Window Titlebars'
  - Toggle 'Maximize' and 'Minimize'

===== Extensions =====
Similar to browser extensions, there are also extensions for Linux. You can manage them in the application 'Extensions'.

  - Move your cursor to the upper left corner of your screen -or- press the Windows key to open the Applications menu
  - Type in 'Extensions' and open the application by pressing Enter
  - Scroll down and toggle the entry for 'WindowList'

===== Authentication required =====

Sometimes when you, for example, open certain programs, the computer asks you for authentication (see Figure {{ref>auth}}). It is persistent in this, so just click on "Cancel" until the window no longer pops up.
